Citrus County Schools Celebrate Record-High Graduation Rates
Citrus County Schools and the state of Florida continue to show strong progress in student success, with graduation rates reaching a new high with the graduating class of 2025! The district’s overall rate increased from 91.6% to 94.1%, reflecting a gain of approximately 2.5 percentage points. This improvement mirrors the statewide increase, as Florida’s graduation rate rose from 89.7% to 92.2%.
Graduation rates by high school are as follows:
- Citrus High School: 97.4%
- Crystal River High School: 96%
- Lecanto High School: 95.6%
- District Average: 94.1%
- State Average: 92.2%
The district’s 94.1% graduation rate represents the combined efforts of students and staff across Citrus County’s three traditional high schools, as well as alternative education programs including Renaissance, E-Nini Hassee, Cypress Creek Juvenile Detention Facility, CREST, and Pace.
Florida calculates graduation rates using a cohort model, which tracks a group of students who are scheduled to graduate in the same year. The rate reflects the percentage of students in the 2024–25 graduating class who earned a standard diploma within four years of first entering ninth grade in August 2021. Students who transfer out of the district are removed from the calculation, while students who transfer into the district are included based on their grade level and expected graduation year.
“This milestone affirms the strong momentum happening in Citrus County Schools,” states Dr. Scott Hebert, Superintendent of Schools. “Every graduate represents a story of perseverance, support, and possibility. These results show that when we focus on students and work together with purpose, we can open doors to brighter futures across Citrus County.”
