Principal's News

Welcome, October! Cooler mornings, fall colors (maybe not on trees), and a little extra excitement are in the air at Rock Crusher Elementary! Our Golden Gophers are learning, growing, and showing what it means to follow the RCE Way each day.

This month, we are focusing on Respect and Positive Citizenship. We encourage our students to show respect through kindness, caring, and making positive choices at school, at home, and in our community. Respect, Caring Citizens, and Exceptional Behavior = Golden Gophers! We are so proud of the way our students continue to shine and show respect in their classrooms so learning and teaching can happen!

Our teachers are continuing to connect with families about student progress. Thank you for partnering with us! If you have not yet met with your child’s teacher and would like to schedule a conference, please reach out.

We are also working toward the goals of our 2026–2027 School Improvement Plan, with a focus on improving achievement in Reading and Science, through nonfiction literacy, and improving math proficiency. Families can help by making time for reading at home and practicing basic math facts. These simple routines build confidence and strengthen skills.

Attendance matters, too! Being at school consistently gives students the instruction, routines, and opportunities they need to learn and succeed. Thank you for helping your child make every school day count!

Mark your calendars for our annual Fall Fest on Thursday, October 8, from 5–7 PM! We look forward to a fun evening with our RCE families, including the pumpkin auction, snacks, activities, and plenty of school spirit!

A special thank you to our families and community partners for your continued support and generous sponsorships. Your partnership makes a meaningful difference for our students and staff, and we are grateful for all you do for RCE.

Let’s make it another great month, Golden Gophers! Keep showing kindness, making good choices, giving your best everyday, and following the RCE Way.
Believe It. Achieve It. There’s No Place Like Rock Crusher!

Counselor's Corner

Happy Fall Y’all!!

So much to look forward to; lower temps, less humidity, and FALL FEST 2026!!!  Fall Fest …so much fun, so much candy, and don’t forget, some of the best decorated pumpkins in the county!!

REMINDERS: Please keep all contact information up to date.  Sometimes things happen quickly and it’s easy to forget to update the school. Also, if you have a phone, please be sure to empty your voicemail box. (Ooops, that goes for me as well!)

TIP: Box Breathing- With one hand extended, begin to draw a box (bottom to top) as you inhale through your nose for a 4 count.  Draw across the top of the box while holding your breath, for a 4 count. Draw other side of the box (top to bottom) while exhaling through the mouth for a 4 count. And finally, draw the bottom of the box as you inhale for a 4 count again.  You can air draw your box or draw it on paper.

As always, we’re here for you!

Title I Time

Our Amazing Staff!

RCE is proud that all our teachers and administrators working with our students are certified by the State of Florida or other governing board. We appreciate our teachers for teaching outside their primary certification area, when needed. When this happens, those individuals are currently taking classes or exams to obtain additional certifications.

All RCE teachers providing intervention (Tier 3) are Reading Endorsed or Certified.

School Improvement Plan and Parent Involvement Plan

Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) in a child’s education is a greater predictor of academic success than whether or not that family is affluent or poor. That’s why Title I, Part A program regulations insist on robust parent and family engagement activities at every school where federal funds support effective teaching and engaged learning. Currently Title I, Part A defines parent involvement as the participation of parents in regular, two-way and meaningful communications with school staff that involves the student, addresses learning and engages the family in school activities. Please contact the school to find how you can become more involved in your child’s educational environment. If you would like further information concerning Title l please contact Alice Harrel (Title l Coordinator).
